In 2001, the Whelan Corcoran Smith were commissioned to design a 700 unit residential development on lands at Rush, Co. Dublin. The masterplan design was initially part of the Rush Local Area Plan submission for the Fingal Development Plan and subsequently adopted in 2004. Lengthy negotiations and liaison took place with all relevant departments within Fingal County Council. Extensive drainage surveys and surface water infrastructure were undertaken. The masterplan layout was influenced by the Essex and Cheshire Guides for housing design. The first phase of 124 units was completed in early 2008 and Phase 2 is due for completion in the Summer of 2009. A planning permission application is currently being prepared for Phase 3 of the masterplan.
